Post-Covid, we were asked to resume life as if nothing had happened. Yet beneath the surface lies a quiet truth: we still live with the psychological aftershocks of the pandemic. These portraits reflect the dissonance of living with suppressed collective trauma. Ghostlike and numb, they resemble passport photos—flat, contextless and suspended. The water the subject is suspended in, rendered almost invisible, symbolises unseen pressures since the lockdown, and the unseeing eyes that don’t quite meet the world reflect the emotional flattening left in the wake of it.
