Sophie’s recent photographic projects are made in the locale of St. Leonards on Sea, and examine the complex relationship between man and place. In essence, her work seeks to find ways of showing what can’t be seen, and explores visual ideas concerning the invisible. Sophie uses photography to make connections between consciousness and objective reality, seeking to exploit the gaps that exist in our perceptions of the world around us. Her work is often a metaphorical analysis of place and raises questions about humankind’s relationship with the natural and built environments we inhabit.
