Jon Pratty

My current work stretches familiar darkroom practices to create monolithic abstract pieces. I make things hard for myself by looking at the work as it builds and wondering how far to take it. I’m now making prints that are 6ft by 4ft, enlarged onto walls and developed by hand using sprays and sponges. It is a very physical practice.

Building on the current work, I have some visual, chemical and performative research directions I am exploring and don’t actually know where this is going to end up. My art college education 40 years ago has become, once more, my guide.
