Francesco Cavaliere

I am a largely self-taught photographic artist with a background as a photographer in music journalism and professional portraiture. I am not a photo-purist, being more interested in art than photography itself.

My work has been published and shown in exhibitions as far apart as London, Japan, Australia and San Francisco. I try not to narrow my work down too much (there are too many images out there waiting to be captured!), but for some years I have been engaged on a long-term project inspired by and reinterpreting famous (and not so famous) paintings, particularly of the 19th century. If I had to describe my work in one word, it is pictorialism.
