Lady Annie BrasseySarah French is a photo curator and PhD candidate working collaboratively between the University of Sussex and Hastings Museum to research the collections of Lady Annie Brassey (1839-1887).

Annie Brassey was a travel writer, collector and amateur photographer who joined the Royal Photographic Society in 1873. She became a household name with her bestselling 1878 publication A Voyage in the Sunbeam that detailed her eleven-month journey around the world with her family, crew and pets in their luxury yacht that she had fitted out with a darkroom.
