Hastings pier is much more than its structure to the people of this town. Talk to people of all ages about the pier and you will hear of love, beauty, solitude, company, memory and peace, of the seasons, of pastimes, parties and performances.

This group of photographers, brought together by an evening class at the local college with tutor Alex Brattell, realised that one thing they have in common is a love of the pier and all that it represents. It is an important symbol of many things that are important to many people and so the matter of its loss or restoration goes to the heart of what we are and can become.

To raise money towards the rescue of this wonderful place is to act out of hope and unites us as a welcoming and positive community, just as the pier has done since 1872.

The works in this show are diverse and individual, carefully considered and beautifully made. They are also a bargain, with all proceeds going towards a cause close to all our hearts.
